Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1st) was among a small bipartisan group from Congress who met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli government leaders in the wake of the surprise attack by Hamas.
With over 1,500 Palestinians killed in Gaza and at least 1,200 in Israel, disorder in Congress over the House speakership has the potential to affect how and when U.S. aid gets delivered into the conflict zone.
“We went to bed with a dream of hope of long-lasting peace in the Middle East and literally woke to a nightmare of an attack on Israel by Hamas, an ungodly attack by this group that is nothing more than pure evil as part of their manifesto.” Norcross said in an interview, “That was incredibly important that our delegation continued this trip into Israel to see firsthand that Americans stand shoulder short with Israel that our values, our beliefs are so much aligned.”
Norcross has long been a friend of the Israeli government, and in 2022, according to OpenSecrets, received $68,290 from pro-Israel lobbying groups.
