It’s a wrap for the first public meeting of the state’s congressional redistricting commission. The group, which met virtually Wednesday morning, is responsible for drawing a new map of congressional district boundaries based on the latest census data.
“My big takeaway from today is that the commission has committed to a fair and open process with public input, which is incredibly important for this to be a process that centers democracy,” said Henal Patel, director of the Democracy & Justice Program at the New Jersey Institute for Social Justice.
