Sales of recreational cannabis soared in New Jersey in the first quarter of 2024. Sales in dispensaries across the state totaled a record $201 million, an increase of about 38% compared to the same period in 2023.

The state Cannabis Regulatory Commission attributed the increase in sales to a shift in consumer behavior, with buyers moving away from black market purchases and toward a safer, regulated market. The commission expects sales to continue to increase as more dispensaries open.
