Ahead of the July Fourth holiday weekend, many are concerned about hectic travel conditions that have persisted this week after intense weather and airport staffing shortages. Some 50 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more this weekend, AAA projects; that would be a new record for the holiday.
Travelers faced numerous delays and cancellations at Newark airport this week, as United Airlines canceled over 2,300 flights as of Wednesday, according to The Washington Post. The Port Authority says 2 million people will use one of its four airports this weekend, with another 5 million travelers using trains and buses.
