There’s an alarming new trend in the rate of uterine cancer cases in the United States. Uterine — or endometrial cancer — is expected to become the third most common cancer among women by 2040. The mortality rate is highest among Black women. A new study shows that Black women in the U.S. die of uterine cancer at twice the rate of white women. There are also sharp disparities in the rates among Asian and Hispanic communities too.
Despite the increasing rate, medical experts say not enough public attention is being given to the disease. Dr. Mark Einstein, a researcher at the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, discusses the issue.
