Democrats and Republicans will cast their votes on Tuesday — if they haven’t already decided who will be the candidates for November’s midterm election, along with a number of local races throughout the state. At the top of the ballot, nominees for all 12 of New Jersey’s congressional districts, 10 of which are controlled by Democrats. Republicans aim to take back both chambers of Congress, targeting formerly safe GOP districts that Democrats flipped during the backlash against the election of former President Donald Trump. Already more than 266,000 residents made their selections — taking advantage of the new in-person early voting option and vote-by-mail ballots.
