Governor Christie is halfway through his term as governor and McHugh said his biggest challenge going forward is working with the legislature. While the Governor has accomplished some remarkable things with the legislature, he may be looking to mend some fences, says McHugh, citing the Governor’s clashes with Senate President Steve Sweeney and Assembly Speaker Sheila Oliver.
Looking ahead, McHugh says smoothing over relations with legislators will be key to tackling tough tax policy questions in 2012. But overall, McHugh said he believes Christie will gain some momentum after delivering the address.
