The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey approved a $9.3 billion budget on Thursday, increasing the bistate agency’s spending by $1 billion for next year.
That money is set to fund a raft of new investments, including work to replace the AirTrain at Newark Liberty International Airport and the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan as well as the purchase of 72 new PATH train cars.
The budget also includes toll hikes for the Port Authority’s six bridges and tunnels, pushing E-ZPass tolls above $15 dollars per car for trips during peak traffic times.
