Patients slowly gain confidence to return to the doctor’s office

Fear of COVID-19 is playing a role in why some people still are not ready to schedule visits

People are heading back to the doctor’s office, finally getting checkups and taking care of health issues put on the back burner during the coronavirus pandemic.

But Hackensack Meridian Health Chief Physician Executive Dr. Daniel Varga says they are still seeing fewer patients than they would typically see for preventive screenings and elective surgeries. And Dr. Meg Fisher, special adviser to New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli, says fear of COVID-19 is still playing a role in why some people aren’t going to the doctor yet.
