Paterson BLM Youth Camp focuses on social issues

The idea for the camp came after many young people became involved in Black Lives Matter protests last year

A different kind of summer camp is underway in Paterson, where organizers are hoping to teach kids about social issues, including racism, colorism and police brutality. Over a dozen 6th to 8th grade children are attending the Black Lives Matter Youth Camp overseen by the Black Lives Matter Paterson chapter.

Not only is the program for youth; it also is being led by counselors who are 15 to 18 years old. Campers get a chance to openly express their feelings concerning social issues without judgment or fear of consequences. The camp will run through the end of the month.
