Gov. Phil Murphy’s budget speech was also an election-year speech, since all 120 seats in the Legislature are on the ballot. A number of items in the governor’s speech played to Democrats’ interests.
Republicans though, are criticizing a budget plan that’s 5% larger than last year’s record-high state budget. Among the Republicans who made the case against the Murphy spending proposals were Sen. Declan O’Scanlon (R-Monmouth).
