Editor’s Note: The video report posted above incorrectly characterizes the scope of a bill to ban teaching critical race theory in schools. The bill addresses only critical race theory and seeks to limit what teachers say about current affairs. The bill does not address the Holocaust or slavery.
Two Republican senators have introduced a bill that would prevent critical race theory from being taught in New Jersey public schools. Even though it currently is not part of the curriculum in New Jersey classrooms, the subject has sparked outrage at school board meetings and became a topic of discussion in the recent governor’s election. Democrats control the Legislature and are unlikely to post the bill for a hearing.
