Seventeen months after voters overwhelmingly approved legalizing marijuana in New Jersey, sales are set to begin within a matter of weeks. The state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission on Monday approved seven medical marijuana dispensaries for adult-use sales. The locations, also known as Alternative Treatment Centers, will be the first sites to sell recreational cannabis.

The commission gave the green light to 34 more businesses, approving conditional licenses for growers and manufacturers so they can begin building out their operations.
