NJ Transit needed to meet an end-of-year deadline to install Positive Train Control (PTC) to prevent accidents. With two weeks to go before the deadline, the agency was certified Friday by the Federal Railroad Administration; Gov. Phil Murphy made the announcement from an NJ Transit maintenance yard in Kearny.
