Workers on NJ Transit’s front lines are receiving expanded training in an often overlooked aspect of their jobs — de-escalating potentially dangerous situations with customers.

The transit agency is incorporating a curriculum from Rutgers National Transit Institute to give conductors and bus drivers more strategies to prevent a situation from happening in the first place.
