NJ Transit braces for heat-related problems

The agency warns commuters of delays, air conditioning problems

NJ Transit warned commuters on Tuesday that there was a risk of delays and air conditioning problems as an ongoing heat wave ratcheted up pressure on the agencies rail operations. The outdated catenary wires that power trains along the Northeast Corridor become increasingly unreliable as temperatures climb higher — a problem that has already caused significant delays this summer.
