Robust state tax incentives have made New Jersey a hub for movie and television production, and a growing number of Garden State municipalities are hoping to cash in.
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority and the state Motion Picture and Television Commission held a workshop in Morristown on Tuesday where local officials from around the state gathered to learn about the film industry, and how their towns can attract future productions.
State officials said film and TV production generated more than $700 million in revenue for New Jersey in 2022.
“It’s a boom to our local economy,” said Jon Crowley, the executive director of the commission. “The governor last week said over and over for one dollar the state spends to keep entertainment here, six to eight dollars come back out into the local economy.”
