Zach Tahhan, 21-year-old Jersey City resident, is being hailed for his courage and quick thinking in helping the New York City police department identify and capture the suspected shooter in the recent Brooklyn subway attack —where 10 people were shot and 19 were injured.
Tahhan was given a “key to the city” Friday in Prospect Park, Brooklyn, during an event at the borough hall. Members of the Syrian-American and Muslim community praised Tahhan, whose family fled war-torn Aleppo, Syria, when he was a baby. Tahhan also received proclamations and commendations from the New Jersey State Legislature and a number of counties, towns and organizations.
