The state attorney general’s office has opened an investigation into the unsolved deaths of John and Joyce Sheridan, a prominent New Jersey couple with political connections who were killed in their home in 2014. The investigation comes after WNYC reporter Nancy Solomon revisited the case, in the podcast “Dead End: A New Jersey Political Murder Mystery,” shedding light on mistakes that local law enforcement made when investigating the deaths.
The Somerset County prosecutor’s office determined the prominent lawyer killed himself and his wife of 47 years, but his four sons refused to believe it. Six months after the murders, the prosecutor’s office changed the manner of death from “undetermined” to “suicide,” leaving the Sheridan sons on a quest for truth.
