U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and U.S. Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-5th) joined members of the New Jersey Harm Reduction Coalition on Friday to discuss how to increase access to fentanyl test strips.
The test strips can detect deadly fentanyl in street drugs like heroin, helping to prevent drug overdoses and related deaths. The strips are illegal in some states. Legislation has been introduced in Washington that would make them legal in all 50 states. And Booker will introduce legislation to provide funding to pay for them.
