Snow coated almost all of New Jersey between Monday night and Tuesday morning, bringing the first statewide snowfall in nearly two years. Most places got between 1 and 3 inches of snow, though the higher elevations in northwestern areas saw more.
The precipitation transitioned to freezing rain later on Tuesday, creating slick roads and hazardous commutes in the afternoon. The cold is expected to remain this week before mild temperatures return later in the month. February is historically the peak of New Jersey’s snow season.
