New Jersey is getting more than a half-billion dollars in state and federal loans to spend on 28 water infrastructure projects across the state. Officials announced the $588 million financing package at a refurbished Moorestown treatment plant, a project financed in part by one of the loans.
Other projects include $28 million to help Newark pay for part of its lead service line-replacement program, more than $17 million to jump-start a similar project in Trenton, millions for new water mains in Jersey City and Hoboken, where century-old cast iron pipes need a serious upgrade, and more. The loans come from several sources at rock-bottom or even zero percent interest.
