The massive wildfire that broke out in Bass River State Forest over the weekend has now been contained. At one point, the 617-acre fire in Burlington County and parts of Little Egg Harbor threatened 100 homes. There were no reports of damaged structures or injuries; smoke is expected to remain in the area for several days.
In the meantime, firefighters are making progress containing another wildfire in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest in Pemberton. It broke out Monday night and it has spread to more than 400 acres.
