Many New Jersey farmers are having big difficulty hiring enough workers, smack in the middle of their busiest season. “Whether it’s vegetable farming, dairy, you know, everyone is scrambling to get a full complement to do the work that they need to do,” said Douglas Fisher, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture.
Some owners say they will have to raise wages and that in turn will lead to higher prices for produce.
