This week the state attorney general’s office effectively abolished mandatory minimum sentences for six nonviolent drug offenses. They include distributing drugs to youth and within 1,000 feet of a school, using a juvenile to sell drugs, leading a narcotics trafficking network, maintaining a facility that produces drugs and manufacturing, distributing or dispensing them.

The attorney general’s office is also launching a new online portal for anyone currently serving a mandatory minimum sentence for one of those offenses to request a court review and a new sentence.
