The Israel-Hamas war, which has left thousands dead, shows little sign of letting up, with fears growing that the conflict could expand through the region.
President Joe Biden traveled to Israel on Wednesday, where he pledged the unwavering support of the United States for the Israeli government. Biden has repeatedly defended Israel’s right to defend itself and retaliate against Hamas, but members of his own party are calling for an end to the violence.
Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12th) last week joined more than 50 House Democrats in signing a letter to Biden that called on the president to push for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Hamas.
Watson Coleman spoke to NJ Spotlight News from the Capitol, just after another floor vote in the House of Representatives ended without a new House speaker being selected.
