U.S. Rep. Donald Payne Jr. remains hospitalized after suffering a heart attack on April 6. Although his press office has issued repeated statements that Payne is in stable condition and recovering in the hospital, the New Jersey Globe reports that the six-term congressman has not regained consciousness since the cardiac event. The New Jersey Globe also reports that Payne has been on a ventilator at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center for the last 11 days.
In a statement to NJ Spotlight News, Payne’s team said the cardiac episode was related to complications from diabetes. They added that they hope for a full recovery for the congressman.
