The state’s Cannabis Regulatory Commission this week approved five new recreational dispensaries, bringing to 18 the total number of outlets in New Jersey. Stores in Eatontown, Lodi, Montclair, Union and Woodbridge will begin sales in a few weeks. The new locations will boost access in central Jersey, an area that had just two dispensaries serving roughly 3.5 million people when the market launched in April.

Curaleaf in Edgewater Park opened its doors at 10 a.m. Wednesday to recreational customers. That site was previously approved but opening stalled while the dispensary settled zoning issues with the town over an expanded parking lot.

In just the first month of New Jersey’s legalized market for recreational cannabis, the state recorded about $24 million in sales.
