Early on Election Day, Rep. Tom Malinowski was at his headquarters, where he addressed an energized group of canvassers heading out to try to squeeze every last vote out of the 7th Congressional District that now has 18,000 more Republicans than Democrats. It is going to be a tough challenge for Malinowski to hold onto his seat, but he said he was optimistic.
“We’ve got great turnout across the district. We’ve had record early voting for an election like this, with very good indications of Democrats voting in large numbers. A lot of the people we’re talking to, and we’ve had hundreds of volunteers out every day, the last several days, are really turned off by the negativity of my opponent’s campaign,” Malinowski said.
Malinowski said if he wins against Republican challenger Tom Kean Jr. it will be because of volunteers and the grassroots effort.
