A deadly cargo ship fire in Port Newark early this summer left two veteran Newark firefighters dead and showed just how unprepared the city’s fire department is for dealing with shipboard blazes.
An investigation by Ted Sherman of NJ Advance Media sheds new light on how the tragedy unfolded, with analysis of previously unseen incident reports and records, and previously unheard radio transmissions from the night of the fire. He discusses the investigation with Briana Vannozzi.
