A new training program from Cooper University Health Care and Camden County College is aimed at training emergency medical technicians. Many cities currently are finding it hard to recruit and retain EMTs.
Chris Ballinger, a lead instructor at Camden County College: “They’re learning to become EMTs … They learn everything from CPR to trauma assessment to medical assessment, to treating cardiac, respiratory, stroke victims … Basically every single emergency call that goes out, an ambulance with two EMTs comes to your aid.”
The students will complete 500 hours of training, and new technology is allowing them to get more hands-on experience in the classroom before dealing with patients.
