The New Jersey Department of Human Services has launched the Disability Information Hub, a website that brings together resources from across state government. Its purpose is to be a centralized resource for New Jersey residents with disabilities and their families, caregivers and advocates.

In an interview with NJ Spotlight News, Department of Human Services Commissioner Sarah Adelman said the Disability Information Hub is a one-stop source of “information that helps people with housing, with health care, with access to education or technology assistance, food assistance, really any kind of service that an individual might need.”

Adelman said the site can be translated into numerous languages and can be accessed by blind and visually impaired individuals using screen writer technology; it also features videos in American Sign Language for residents who are deaf or hard of hearing.

The announcement of the new service commemorates Disability Pride Month and the 34th anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which impacts one in five New Jerseyans, according to DHS.
