Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Monday his support for a package of four bills to make prescription drugs more affordable. The bills would cap the costs of inhalers, EpiPens and insulin, allow New Jersey to join other states in negotiating drug prices and place more scrutiny on practices that drive up drug prices.
“With these efforts, we will join the growing number of states that are saying enough is enough when it comes to rising drug costs, by taking a long look under the hood of the entire process and then fixing what needs to be fixed,” said Murphy.
Health care advocates welcomed the announcement — but some, including the AARP — told NJ Spotlight News last week that the governor’s plan doesn’t go far enough because it doesn’t address the high prices set by drugmakers themselves.
