Thursday marked day three of the ninth annual International Offshore Wind Partnering Forum, this year being held in Atlantic City, the largest offshore wind energy conference in North America. The focus — three wind farms planned for construction off the Jersey Shore, a potential economic boon to manufacturing and environmental consulting companies in the region.
Earlier this week, the Biden administration said it was looking to create 4 million acres of wind farms in the Atlantic Ocean. They argue it’s a good move, both for environmental reasons and national security.
Gov. Phil Murphy told the conference that New Jersey is halfway toward its goal of 7.5 gigawatts of power created by offshore wind farms, enough to supply energy to more than 5 million homes.
