Gov. Phil Murphy used his sixth State of the State address to double down on efforts to make New Jersey more affordable. One of the highlights of the speech, which lasted more than an hour, was Murphy calling for lawmakers to pass legislation that would protect families from crushing medical debt.

Speaking in the Assembly chamber of the State House in Trenton, Murphy touted recent infrastructure investments around the state and major economic initiatives launched, before announcing that his next major economic focus will be turning New Jersey into a hub for the nation’s burgeoning AI (artificial intelligence) industry.

“Today, with AI, I believe we are at the dawn of a new era, much like we were 30 years ago, with the internet,” Murphy said.
