COVID-19 continues to ravage the job market. In New Jersey, more than 141,000 residents filed for unemployment in the latest week. Unemployment claims related to COVID-19 have now topped 718,000 in the state.

In the past month, 22 million jobs have disappeared from the U.S. economy, essentially wiping out
all the jobs that were created after the Great Recession in 2009.

A countless number of businesses are now in limbo. That’s because a $350 billion federal Small Business Administration loan program that encourages companies to keep workers on the payroll hit its limit and is now out of money.

During a virtual town hall meeting Thursday, New Jersey Congressman Donald Norcross told businesses owners not to worry, the program will get new funding.
