Omar Alkattoul, a Middlesex County man, has admitted to posting online antisemitic threats. An online manifesto by him last year prompted the FBI to heighten security at Jewish schools and synagogues in New Jersey and issue a warning that spread fear through the community. Alkattoul pleaded guilty in federal court in Trenton Wednesday to one count of transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce. He faces up to five years in prison when he is sentenced on November 14.
Federal prosecutors said Alkattoul used two social media apps to send the threatening messages. He talked about wanting to kill Jews in revenge for the death of Muslims.
