New Jersey’s Human Services Commissioner Jennifer Velez said she’s leaving the Christie administration. Also in state news, the bankrupt Revel Casino still without a new owner. NJTV News Chief Political Correspondent Michael Aron spoke with Correspondent Michael Hill about both issues.

Aron said there was a hearing on the Revel sale today. The casino owners are trying to terminate their deal with Glenn Straub. Aron said the sale has been tied up for about a month. The lawyers reportedly met privately today and the judge said she will issue a ruling Tuesday to determine if the sale is dead or goes forward.

According to Aron, Velez is leaving on her own. “She’s well regarded in Trenton, she’s been in state government forever. I think she goes back to the Kean administration,” he said. “She’s one of the very few cabinet officers appointed by a Democrat and then reappointed by a Republican, Chris Christie.”

Velez is going to Barnabas Health in West Orange to be a senior VP, according to Aron.
