Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop is blaming Suez Water for a chaotic distribution of fresh and bottled water to residents and Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla is demanding the company issue an apology and an explanation to residents. Jersey City and Hoboken spent four days under boil-water advisories that went into effect about 24 hours after Tropical Storm Ida hit. The storm caused damage to the company’s aqueduct that provides water for the two cities in Hudson County.
A spokesperson for Hoboken tells NJ Spotlight News the mayor met with Suez officials on Tuesday, requesting a credit for ratepayers along with a detailed and transparent communications plan for future issues with water service.
