The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA) unanimously approved a revitalization plan for Atlantic City that board members hope will improve safety and make the city the preferred resort destination. Called the Atlantic City Tourism District Master Plan, it includes short-term, mid-term and long-term goals. One of the first projects include a transformed boardwalk with interactive entertainment and artwork. The project has support from the CRDA as well as Atlantic City Mayor Lorenzo Langford and Sen. Jim Whelan. NJToday’s Lauren Wanko files this report.

Officials say the project is “grounded in economic feasibility,” although there is not currently a price tag, and is able to be phased in over time. Board members say they can start some of the initiatives, but they will need help. The board currently receives $35 million per year from casino revenue.
