U.S. Rep. Tom Malinowski was part of a bipartisan group of lawmakers that traveled to Ukraine recently to show U.S. support for the country in the face of an impending Russian invasion. Now that an invasion has begun, Malinowski (D-7th), who sits on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, said he believes “the Ukrainians are going to fight hard and fight long,” adding that Russian President Vladimir Putin “has a fantasy that he is destined to reconstitute, to rebuild the Soviet Union, to destroy this young democracy in Ukraine.”
Malinowski supports the current U.S. sanctions on Russia but said “there’s more that can be done and I’m pushing the administration to do more.”
