High-profile civil rights attorney Benjamin Crump and others gathered outside the Bridgewater Police Department demanding justice for a Black teen who was handcuffed and had two police officers place their knees on the boy’s body following a fight at Bridgewater Commons mall; a video of the incident gained national attention.
But local (uninvited) speakers interrupted the event before it could get started, calling Crump and the National Action Network interlopers profiting from the plight of the Black community for their own advantage.
The rally comes as the state Assembly passed a bill Monday that would require cultural diversity and implicit-bias training for police officers during basic training.
