Liberty Science Center uses the “12 Days of Science” as an end of the year extravaganza to highlight its offerings. There are also unique programs available during that time for families to enjoy, including Pocket Science, where staff members roam the facility and pull items from their pockets to teach children. Liquid nitrogen ice cream is a popular annual tradition, Blaney said, to teach people the science behind ice cream. Flavors have included candy cane, pumpkin and even spinach. Insta-Snow is another popular activity that teaches visitors about polymers. They also get to take home a baggy with the product, which turns a dry, fine powder into snow. Blaney said the goal of Liberty Science Center all year round is to make the learning experiences real and relevant to children.
