Election Day is Nov. 7 but more than 350,000 New Jersey residents have already cast their votes via mail or by early in-person voting. The most competitive districts are expected to be the 3rd, 4th, 11th and 16th. Money is key and new data from the Election Law Enforcement Commission show all four of these races made the list of most expensive, with independent expenditure groups in the 11th Legislative District alone expected to spend upwards of $9 million.

“If you’re driving out your voters you’re going to be more strident with your messaging now in this last week,” Micah Rasmussen, the director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider University, said. “That’s what we can probably expect to look forward to seeing. We can expect even more of the hot-button-issue stuff going on while you’re trying to get your voters to come out and vote.”
