How nondisclosure agreements are preventing some victims from speaking up

When settling lawsuits brought by former employees, companies typically require the employee to sign nondisclosure agreements, or NDAs, as part of the deal. But NDAs have too often been used to protect dirty little secrets — like a culture of gender discrimination and sexual harassment. For employees victimized by their bosses and silenced by their NDAs, there’s a fight to end the practice. The initiative is called Lift Our Voices.

Lift Our Voices co-founder Julie Roginsky was a senior advisor to Phil Murphy and was victimized by Fox News Chair Roger Ailes and then silenced by her NDAs when that lawsuit was settled. She speaks with Senior Correspondent David Cruz about how she’s fighting to end the practice.
