Many school districts in New Jersey have returned to in-person learning, although most on a part-time basis. More than 300,000 students remain entirely engaged in virtual classes. Gov. Phil Murphy says now is the time to get those students back in the classroom.

One Hudson County school district has been up and running with in-person learning for months.

In Hoboken, at least half the district’s 3,000 kids attended in-person classes five days a week, since September. The rest learned online, by choice. The delicate balancing act required intense planning, cooperation, mandatory COVID-19 tests — and a lot of luck.
