Homeless people can soon receive COVID-19 vaccine

Gov. Phil Murphy announced Monday the expansion of eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine, starting March 15. Among the groups newly eligible will be the nearly 9,000 people in the state who are classified as homeless. Also eligible will be those currently living in domestic violence and homeless shelters.

This weekend doctors from Riverside Medical Group in Secaucus began a new partnership to reach these high-risk communities and fight inequity. They are offering vaccinations on-site at places like Eva’s Village in Paterson — which serves meals to and houses those in need. The group is also helping people to sign up for appointments online and in some cases, providing shuttles to get them to their vaccination appointments.
