To honor Black Music Month, the GRAMMY Museum Experience at the Prudential Center in Newark opened “A Hip-Hop Life: Five Decades of Hip-Hop Music, Art, And Culture,” an exhibition that features the work of photographer Ernie Paniccioli. It includes photographs of music stars including The Notorious B.I.G., Tupac Shakur, Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, LL Cool J and Salt-N-Pepa.
Mark Conklin, director of GRAMMY Museum Experience, said he hopes the exhibit can teach people of all ages about the impact hip-hop has had on musical culture.
The museum will host a series of public and educational programs throughout June to celebrate the history of Black music and culture.
