Some students’ back-to-school schedules are being affected by the high temperatures that have hit the state; a heatwave is forecast to last through Thursday.
After a heat advisory was issued for all or parts of 15 counties, some schools opted to dismiss students early. That happened from Winslow Township in Camden County to as far north as Metuchen and Belleville. Some school districts are opting for half days or early dismissal with no after-school activities.
The heat index is forecast to stay above 100 degrees all week, according to the National Weather Service, making for “dangerously hot” conditions.
