GRIT offers parents and kids a learning experience focused on mind and body

For some parents, school closures this week are like déjà vu all over again

About one-third of all schools in New Jersey are remote right now due to rising cases of the coronavirus. That move has left parents scrambling to change their plans and dive back into a world of remote learning. GRIT, a fitness and wellness center geared for kids in Jersey City opened in March 2020, but the challenges of a small business trying to survive COVID-19 forced it to close down. But then owner Peyton Kay shifted his business model to meet the needs of his neighbors in a new way.

“We’re offering a service to the parents, putting kids online for them, and making sure their kids get their homework done, but also make sure they have the social and physical activities that they need to be healthy and happy,” said Kay.
